Job Description
POSITION: Financial Aid Specialist (2 Vacancies)
Description of Duties: Provide exceptional customer service in person, by phone, and by email. Assisting students in completing and processing of financial aid applications both online and in person. Analyze documents submitted by applicants for accuracy and to determine if other documentation is required. Maintaining student financial aid records and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Provide guidance and support to students and families regarding financial aid options, application procedures, and eligibility requirements. Process incoming verification documents and prepare information for the awarding process. Review and analyze documents used to collect information from applicants. Suggest changes to these documents as needed. Process and complete Tuition Assistance documents received from various outside agencies by providing verification of financial aid. Assist with processing of Tribal Scholarships. Assist with document imaging of student records. Assist with the Federal Student loan Programs. Serves as a liaison with other departments and external customers in the resolution of day-to-day matters. Participate in outreach and educational activities to promote financial literacy and awareness of financial aid opportunities. Report inconsistent activities by students as they pertain to their application for financial aid. Correspond with students in writing, in person or by phone regarding their outstanding documents needed to complete their FAFSA. Stay updated on federal and state regulations and changes in financial aid policies to ensure compliance. Assist with the development and implementation of financial aid policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of related experience in an academic institution. Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Basic math and data entry skills are essential. Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments in a fast-past environment. Light lifting up to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. required. Ability to reach above shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
Desired Qualifications: Associate's Degree or equivalent. Two (2) years of related experience in an academic institution.
